How Discord renders your bio (and why some symbols break)
Discord doesn't render text the way a normal text box does — it runs everything through its own client, and that changes what actually shows up on someone's screen. Three things are worth knowing before you paste a bio.
First, the About Me field holds 190 characters, but Unicode symbols and styled fonts often count as more than one character each. A '𝓯𝓪𝓷𝓬𝔂' word that looks like five letters can eat 10–15 of your 190. If a bio gets cut off, it's almost always styled characters spending your budget — swap a few for plain letters and it fits.
Second, Discord renders identically on desktop, web and the mobile apps for standard Unicode, but a small set of newer emoji and regional symbols fall back to a hollow box (□) on older Android builds. Every template on this page is restricted to widely-supported characters, so what you copy is what your friends see.
Third, line breaks work (press Enter while editing), but Discord's markdown — bold, italics, hyperlinks — does not apply inside the About Me field, only in messages. That's why the layouts below use symbol dividers (┊ ✧ ·) instead of markdown to create structure.
