Strikethrough Text Generator
Cross out any text with Unicode strikethrough characters. Works everywhere you can paste text—no formatting needed.
Our strikethrough text generator creates crossed-out text using Unicode combining characters, producing text that appears struck through on any platform that supports Unicode. Unlike HTML or Markdown strikethrough which only works in specific contexts, Unicode strikethrough text can be pasted into social media posts, chat messages, emails, usernames, bios, and anywhere else plain text is accepted.
The tool offers three distinct strikethrough styles. Single Strike applies the Unicode combining long stroke overlay (U+0336) to each character, producing the classic horizontal line through the center of each letter. This is the most widely recognized strikethrough style and has the best compatibility across platforms and devices. Slash Through uses the combining short solidus overlay (U+0337) to draw a diagonal slash through each character, creating a more aggressive deletion appearance. Tilde Strike applies a combining tilde overlay that produces a wavy line through the text, offering a more decorative or playful crossed-out effect.
Strikethrough text serves many practical and creative purposes. Writers and editors use it to show corrections, revisions, or deleted content while keeping the original visible. Social media users apply it for humor, showing what they really think by crossing out an alternative phrasing. In to-do lists and productivity posts, strikethrough indicates completed tasks. Gamers and forum users incorporate it into usernames and signatures for visual distinction.
The technique works by inserting a Unicode combining character after each letter in your text. The browser then renders that combining character on top of the preceding letter, creating the strikethrough appearance. Because these are standard Unicode characters, the result is real text—not an image—meaning it can be searched, selected, copied, and pasted like normal text.
Everything is processed locally in your browser. Your text is never sent to any server, ensuring complete privacy. Simply enter your text, choose your preferred strikethrough style, and copy the result with one click.

Single Strike draws a horizontal line through the middle of each character. Slash Through draws a diagonal line. Tilde Strike draws a wavy line. Single Strike has the best compatibility across all platforms.
Discord supports both Markdown strikethrough (~~text~~) and Unicode strikethrough. Our Unicode version works in usernames, server names, and role names where Markdown is not available.
The appearance may vary slightly between devices, operating systems, and fonts. Single Strike is the most consistently rendered style. Some older systems or unusual fonts may not display combining characters properly.
